Mario Notaristefano is the principal piccolo at the Staatstheater Braunschweig.
He initially studied under the guidance of Michele Marasco and later wih Andrea Oliva at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome. An essential milestone in his artistic journey was his interaction with Mario Caroli, who significantly influenced his musical growth. He pursued studies with Caroli both at the Conservatorio della Svizzera Italiana and the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg im Breisgau.
Recepient of the second prize at the Cimarosa International Flute Competition, Mario has performed with numerous orchestras and esembles including like Konzerthaus Berlin, NDR Radiophilarmonie, SWR Südwestrundfunks Symphonieorchester, Frankfurter Opern- und Museumsorchester, Ensemble Aventure.
Passionate about education, Mario dedicated himself to teaching flute at the Hochschule für Musik in Freiburg until 2022.
Driven by an unwavering commitment to deepen his musical research and interpretation, the flutist Mario has authored essays for notable publications such as the philosophical journal "Studi di Estetica" from the Alma Mater Studiorium University of Bologna, the e-journal "De Musica" affiliated with the Department of Philosophy at the University of Milan, as well as the periodic publication "Falaut".
Mario is a Miyazawa International Artist and he is performing on a Miyazawa CS 14 K-D-REH.
